- Count on no one but yourself to get things done. Get it done.
- Invite others to share input because you want their input, but don't straddle them with tasks. It's not their project to worry about. If they want to help, they will.
- Keep moving forward no matter what obstacles present in your path.
- Break things down into smaller projects; the overall task can become daunting and stop you in your tracks. Just accept that some things will not be done until it is their time to be done.
- Be realistic; do your homework and don't "fall in love" with an idea that others are saying won't work.
- There is a difference between addressing issues that people might point out with continuing to invest in a losing proposition.
- An idea that has a larger good in mind has a good chance of succeeding over those without one.

ASI - American Society of Inventors is an organization that assists the "basement inventor" and is made up of a collection of fantastic individuals that have lots to offer. The organization can provide you great insights, advice, and leads, and help you avoid costly mistakes.
Philadelphia's Inventor’s organization is the oldest continuous inventor's organization in the country.
You can reach the organization at www.asoi.org or www.americaninventor.org. The organization has monthly meetings that are free. If you join, you can go before the board and receive feedback on your invention, confidentially. The Philadelphia chapter’s president is Brett Strouss.
